Mission Statement
The purpose of the REALTOR® Association of Southeastern Massachusetts is to educate through professional development and communications, advocate legislatively on behalf of REALTORS® and property owners and empower members to be successful within their communitieis and serve consumes in a professional and ethical manner.
NAR Core Standards – Advocacy
Empower attainment of 100% of the established RPAC goals.
Possible Action Plans:
- Include a recommended RPAC Participation Investment “above the line” on the annual dues bill that is conducive with the association's goals
- Include a major RPAC investment from the association as part of the annual association budget
- Promote "My RPAC Did That" during membership education/events and through multi-media
- Promote RPAC through a Board of Directors and/or Government Advocacy Committee phone challenge
- Encourage Board of Directors, Committee Chairs, Managing Brokers and Top Producers to lead by example and contribute above Participation Level and thank those members with notes, announcements and/or recognition
- Encourage Major Investor Level either through a formal event or by creating Major Investor Level Membership Perks
- The Government Affairs Committee will be charged with RPAC
Advocate for legislative & regulatory efforts that affect private property rights and the real estate industry
Possible Action Plans:
- Maintain an active Government Advocacy Committee
- Encourage participation in local, state and federal lobbying days
- Maintain communications with local, state and federal government officials
- Encourage members to be more engaged with the legislative/regulatory process either on the local, state, or federal level
- Conduct a "Get Out the Vote" Champaign
- Identify and impact local issues of importance to the REALTOR® organization (property rights, housing, etc.) by utilizing local, state and national resources
- Apply for a REALTOR® Party Grant
- Choose an annual MY REALTOR® Party Advocate of the Year and publicize the recipient to the community
- Host a REALTOR® Party designated class
Empower participation rates on NAR and State calls for action that are better than the average participation rate.
Possible Action Plan:
- Promote members to download/use the REALTOR® Action Center App
- Promote brokers to register for the Broker Involvement Program so agents get the calls for action directly from their broker
- Request every Board of Director and Government Advocacy Committee member, along with other influential members, to promote the calls for action on their social media sites
- Use multimedia communications to promote agents to respond to calls for action
NAR Core Standards – Consumer Outreach
Advocate for being the “Voice for Real Estate” and promote market statistics and/or real estate trends and issues and their impact on consumers.
Possible Action Plans:
- Highlight local, state or national real estate data in a news release or through direct outreach to local reporters
- Use social media (Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook) to share local real estate data insights or retweet NAR Research insights.
- Maintain a consumer-based real estate show, that provides valuable information while promoting REALTOR® and REALTOR® Services
- Utilize HouseLogic or NAR/MAR research information on social media or through public talking points
- Run a TV, radio or print ad from NAR's Consumer Advertising Campaign in a local media outlet or online
- Reach out to reporters to suggest media stories or highlight REALTOR® volunteer leadership achievements
- Partner with a local Chamber of Commerce or business entity on a program that impact real estate
Empower community involvement and fundraising to promote the value proposition of using a REALTOR® and/or engage in community activities that enhance the image of REALTORS®.
Possible Action Plans:
- Organize REALTOR® participation in a community fundraising drive
- Organize REALTOR® participation in a community event
- Host a homebuyer seminar
- Provide a community grant by utilizing one of the various NAR Grant Programs
- Choose an annual REALTOR® Community Service Champion, consider a donation to the recipient's favorite charity and publicize the recipient to the community
- Partner with a non-profit or housing agency to enhance community involvement
NAR Core Standards - Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Empower Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the association.
Possible Action Plans:
- Offer and promote the At Home with Diversity Course
- Offer implicit bias training to volunteer leadership and staff, in addition to At Home with Diversity
- Offer and promote NAR's Fairhaven
- Offer global real estate courses that spotlight cultural differences in real estate
- Partner with a non-profit or housing agency on a DEI event
- Promote diversity in volunteer leadership through mentoring
NAR Core Standards - Fair Housing
Advocate for fair housing within the real estate industry.
Possible Action Plans:
- Offer Fair Housing Continuing Education Courses
- Promote Fair Housing to consumers
- Create a local Fair Housing Spotlight Day
- Partner with a non-profit or housing agency on an event
- Provide news releases on Fair Housing topics
Additional Strategic Objectives Not Required by the Core Standards
Educate members on critical skills to be successful as the marketplace evolves. Consistently improve member understanding of the Professional Standards process.
Possible Action Plans:
- Offer a variety of Continuing Education courses.
- Offer opportunities to earn designations and certifications. Partner with other local associations or the state association to accomplish this, if needed
- Offer landlord/tenant and commercial courses. Partner with other local associations or the state association to accomplish this, if needed
- Offer Affiliate-led classes on topics designed to specifically educate members on real estate related topics
- Utilize every opportunity possible to provide hybrid classes, in addition to live, online and on-demand
- Measure the results of participation, effectiveness and quality of association classes
Educate Broker/Owners and Managers (BOM) on topics that are specifically designed for business operations, risk management and REALTOR® professionalism
Possible Action Plans:
- Send separate BOM Communications periodically
- Quarterly one-topic online forums
- Create a BOM Tool Kit
- Create a New BOM Orientation class
- Offer Code of Ethics Continuing Education Classes geared to BOM's
- Invite BOM's to Professional Standards Training
- Encourage BOM's to provide feedback on topics of interest and tools needed
Educate members on association and real estate industry related news, trends and issues through multimedia communication techniques.
Possible Action Plans:
- Provide a comprehensive online member service center website
- Weekly Monday Morning eNewsletter
- Partner with state association to provide online local market statistics
- Utilize a combination of video, podcast & email communications for a variety of topics
Empower member engagement in all areas of the local association and also promote engagement in the state and nation association of REALTORS®
Possible Action Plans:
- Provide more opportunities for hybrid education, meetings and events
- Provide in-person networking opportunities throughout the association's region
- Create association signature events (i.e. Awards and Annual Meeting) with WIIFM in mind
- Promote all activities in real-time and post-event to gain interest in future education, events, and legislative/community service events
- Promote the various ROI's of member engagement and association volunteerism
- Promote state and national opportunities for engagement
- Promote volunteer leaders and awards recipients to the public
- Encourage volunteer leaders to mentor future leaders
- Provide a Leadership Academy
- Connect with members on new social media platforms
